The Tanya, or Likutei Amarim (Collection of Sayings), is the central work of the leader of the Hasidim of the Russian Empire and the founder of the Chabad movement, Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, also known as the Alter Rebbe (the Old Rebbe). This book is the foundation of the teachings of Chabad Hasidism. First published in 1796–1797, the Tanya is a crucial historical artifact of Russian Jewry. It has been reprinted hundreds of times and translated into numerous languages. It is rightfully considered one of the most important works of Jewish literature.
The new Russian translation of the Tanya is equipped with extensive notes, an extensive glossary explaining key terms of Kabbalah and Hasidism, and an extensive reference list.
This volume of the multi-volume edition includes the second part of this work, “The Gates of Unity and Faith,” dedicated to the spiritual structure of the universe, the essence of God’s unity, and the various forms of faith in Him. Along with the Russian translation, the original text is also included.
